My Choice of Genre

I have chosen to base my music magazine on the Rock/Metal/Hardcore genre. This is because I have a huge interest in this area, therefore I know a fair amount about the genre, meaning it is a sensible one for me to base my ideas on.

Here are some of the kinds of bands I would like to base my magazine on:

Avenged sevenfold - They are my favourite band, and are extremely popular at the present, with their latest album "Nightmare" topping the charts in July 2010 in US. In December 2009 the drummer, Jimmy Sullivan, aka "The Rev" sadly passed away (RIP). However, they have carried on, and have recently announced their latest tour, titled "The Buried Alive Tour". Avenged Sevenfold can't really be fit into any particular genre, as they are very different to most bands, and therefore do not meet the "requirements" for any particular genre... but if they had to be placed into one it would be close to hard rock/metal.

Atreyu - This band also fits into the hard rock/nu-metal genre, although they are still very different to Avenged Sevenfold, due to the vocal style they use, having both a strong vocalist and a screamer in the band.





Escape the Fate - They are slightly different to Avenged Sevenfold and Atreyu, as they are placed into the post-hardcore genre. However, they do have a lot of similarities within the music, and so are largely listened to by the same audience.





A Day to Remember - Another extremely popular band at the moment. This is another band that is difficult to place into a genre, as they have post-hardcore elements, linking them to escape the fate, but then they also have pop-punk elements in their music too. This widens the bands audience, and therefore choosing this kind of band to feature in a magazine is a good idea, as it will attract a larger audience.
